MONIN India Marks World Environment Day with Nationwide Clean Walk Initiative

To mark World Environment Day, MONIN India launched a nationwide Clean Walk campaign across four major cities, promoting sustainability, community involvement, and environmental responsibility. On World Environment Day, MONIN India brought together teams across four major cities to lead a powerful clean-up initiative as part of its global CSR program, MONIN for Good. This Clean Walk campaign is a clear demonstration of MONIN’s dedication to turning ambitious climate goals into meaningful local action through community involvement, sustainability, and shared responsibility.

In Mumbai, volunteers joined forces with the Khushiyaan Foundation to clean Juhu Beach’s shoreline, addressing the urgent challenge of marine pollution. Delhi’s Clean Walk took place at the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, protecting a delicate urban ecosystem. Hyderabad teams collaborated with Babul NGO to clean the vibrant street food area near the ITC Hotel, while Bangalore participants engaged local residents in Indiranagar to promote responsible waste practices and environmental awareness.

About the Clean Walk: Driving Awareness Through Local Action

The Clean Walk is more than just a litter pick-up. It is a thoughtfully designed community engagement initiative focused on raising environmental awareness at a grassroots level. By mobilizing employees in key urban locations, MONIN fosters direct connections between its teams, local vendors, and residents. This approach encourages a shared sense of responsibility for waste management and the adoption of more sustainable practices.

In addition to cleaning public spaces, participants engaged with local street vendors and community members. They distributed eco-friendly flyers and initiated conversations about plastic reduction, responsible waste disposal, and environmental preservation. These small but meaningful interactions helped make sustainability more accessible and relevant to those on the ground.

Together, MONIN teams collected nearly 800 kilograms of plastic waste and filled over 100 bags of trash across Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. These tangible results reflect both the immediate environmental benefits and the deeper impact of awareness-driven action.

The Clean Walk demonstrates how corporate social responsibility, when focused on education and participation, can drive real community engagement and contribute meaningfully to global sustainability goals.

A Local Response to Global Climate Goals

MONIN’s commitment extends far beyond cleanups. The company has pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 based on a comprehensive 2019 carbon footprint analysis. It also aims for zero liquid discharge by treating and reusing all wastewater and plans to source 30% of its energy from renewable resources within the decade.

MONIN supports biodiversity through large-scale agricultural projects such as the pioneering Yuzu orchard and dedicated vanilla plantations, promoting sustainable farming and supporting local communities. The PURE by MONIN range, launched in 2022, offers beverages free from artificial additives, reflecting MONIN’s dedication to natural, transparent ingredients.

A Path Toward Ecological Regeneration in India

In India, MONIN’s vision materializes through its upcoming Headquarters and Manufacturing facility near Hyderabad. Designed as a model of sustainable manufacturing, the site integrates native plant species, habitats for pollinators, and eco-efficient systems for soil, water, and energy conservation. More than just a factory, it is intended to be a place that fosters a connection between people and nature, offering landscaped areas for recreation and reflection.

This project aligns with the Make in India initiative and symbolizes MONIN’s belief that even small actions—like the hummingbird’s efforts during a forest fire, can contribute to meaningful environmental change.
